I’m going to try and keep these brief, which wont be too hard since I don’t have video highlights because NBC Sports apparently has their highlight clips expire once the next matchweek rolls around. Whatever, here we go.

QPR 2 – 2 Stoke

Mame Biram Diouf opened the scoring with a goal fro Stoke rather early on. Stoke held the lead until almost halftime as Steven Caulker equalized only a few minutes before the half. Peter Crouch returned the lead to Stoke within 10 minutes after halftime but Stoke conceded a wonderful free kick goal with only 2 minutes to go  to share the spoils in this one.

Swansea City 0 – 1 Southampton

Southampton continue to move up in the table after getting a late winner against a Swansea side that played a whole half with 10 men after Wilfred Bony was shown 2 yellow cards in the first half. Victor Wanyama scored Southampton’s winner from close range with 10 minutes left to seal the game for the upstart saints.

Newcastle United 2 – 2 Hull City

Newcastle and Hull shared points in this one as a brace (2 goals) from Papiss Demba Cisse brought Newcastle back after being down by 2 to goals from Nikica Jelavic and Mohamed Diame for Hull. The disappointing start for Newcastle continues but at least they didn’t lose again.

Burnley 0 – 0 Sunderland

At the time of this game both these teams were still looking for their first Premier League win, and that search will continue in matchweek 6 as neither team broke the deadlock, despite a few close calls off the post.

Aston Villa 0 – 3 Arsenal

Arsenal went into Villa Park and came away with a big win. 3 goals in 4 minutes for Arsenal took the wind out of the sails of a defiant Villa side coming off of a big win at Liverpool. Back-to-back goals by Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck  were almost immediately followed by an Aston Villa own goal conceded by Aly Cissokho basically put the game out of reach 10 minutes before halftime.

West Ham 3 – 1 Liverpool

Liverpool’s 3rd loss in 5 games comes at the hands on West Ham United who scored a few early and held on late to take all the points. 2 goals in the first 10 minutes by Winston Reid ad Diafra Sakho put West Ham comfortably ahead early on. Liverpool made it interesting as Raheem Sterling scored in the 26th minute but a goal 2 minutes before the game ended by Morgan Amalfitano put this one out of reach for Liverpool.

West Brom 1 – 0 Tottenham

A rather late close range header from James Morrison gave West Brom their first win of this Barclays Premier League season over Tottenham who have stumbled a bit as of late.

Leicester City 5 – 3 Manchester United

United get back off course after a 4 – 0 win last week against QPR. United scored the first 2 goals in quick succession. The first by Robin van Persie the second by Angel di Maria. But then Leonard Ulloa’s header brought Leicester back within one goal only a minute after United’s second goal. Ander Herrera restored United’s lead 10 minutes into the second half. But a penalty conceded by United’s Rafael led to a Leicester pentalty kick converted by David Nugent which was rapidly followed by the equalizer from Esteban Cambiasso. Jamie Vardy scored for Leicester on the break to take the lead for the first time all match with just over 10 minutes left. Another penalty for Leicester followed with 8 minutes left and Blackett is sent off leaving United with 10 men. Ulloa converts the penalty to put away this very entertaining game.

Manchester City 1 – 1 Chelsea

This match was very even throughout until City went down to ten men after Pablo Zabaleta accumulated 2 yellow cards. Chelsea proceded to take the lead only a few minutes after Zabaleta headed off the pitch. Andre Schurrle poked in a low cross in front of goal to give Chelsea the lead. But they were denied all 3 points by one of their own all time greats, now a player at City. Frank Lampard’s equalizer in the 85th minute saw this game off as a draw.

Everton 2 – 3 Crystal Palace

Everton got the first goal early on through Rolemu Lukaku. 20 minutes later Palace equalized after Mile Jedinak put away a penalty kick conceded by Everton’s goalkeeper Tim Howard. Palace then took the lead right after halftime as Frazier Campbell scored a close range header. Palace added to their lead after Yannick Bolasie scored with 20 minutes left. Things got a little interesting at the end as Scott Dann conceded a penalty to Everton which was converted by Leighton Baines with 8 minutes left but it was too little too late.

Well that’s it for this week. these were the games from 2 weekends ago since the blogging schedule is a little off. We will be back on track with the next posts.
