Shane White

Executive Director
Shane is a Senior at Penn State, Majoring in Business – Health Policy and Administration, and is his second year leading Abington benefiting THON as Executive Director. Post graduation, Shane wants to go to Graduate School and receive his Masters in Health Policy, and then lead a Hospital or Research Facility, committed to funding the fight until he lives to see the day that no child loses their life to cancer. Shane brings five years of professional management experience to the organization, and seven years of Philanthropy experience. In his free time, he likes to run, go to the beach, or socialize with friends. Shane THON’s so he lives to see the day that no parent fears the words “Your child has cancer”.

Nick Pelbano

Family Relations Director
Nick is a senior majoring in psychology. Once he graduates he wants to go on to graduate school and receive his masters in psychology. He then wants to become a psychologist in a children’s hospital. Nick loves to play basketball or go for a run in his free time. Nick works at a recreation center at an after school program during the school year and during the summer he works at the summer camp held at the recreation center. A fun fact about Nick is that he loves to dance even though he is not good at it. Nick THON’s because he has a person connection to a child that was diagnosed with cancer and he believes that kids are our future.

Megan Weiss

Special Events Director
Megan is a senior majoring in Rehabilitation and Human Services. She wants to become a physical therapist and do music therapy as a side career. A fun fact about her is that she loves to draw. Megan THON’s so that every kid can continue to smile.

Jocelyn Yurko

Four Diamonds Director
Devoted to everything she takes on, Jocelyn has pledged her heart to the purpose of Abington Benefiting THON, a cure for childhood cancer. Chosen to programs such as mentorship, coaching, teaching, and now the Board of Directors for AB THON, Jocelyn brings true leadership and heart. Setting goals high she soars on the challenge of reaching for the stars. Jocelyn is in her last year at Penn State Abington as a Pre-Med student. Passionate about working with children, Jocelyn’s graduate studies will be a Physician Assistant program, specializing in pediatrics.  Jocelyn enjoys reading, photography, Penn State football, spending time with family, eating chicken fingers and French fries, and playing with puppies. Jocelyn THON’s because cancer is not a battle children or their families should fight alone.

Alexandra Yurko

Special Events Director
Willing to help anyone, Alexandra joined THON and its Board of Directors immediately arriving to Penn State. With a passion to serve, Alex found working as a team to bring smiles and resources to those who are touched by childhood cancer an honor. Moved by the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a particular young boy with cancer and his family, Alexandra takes to heart praying for their needs. There is nothing Alexandra cannot see the good in.  She loves reading, singing, quite time crafting, football, and everything Disney. Alex plays the flute, guitar and tips toes through the tulips playing the ukulele. She is a nursing student that was accepted to Penn State and Thomas Jefferson University’s dual program while still in high school. Thanks to THON, Alex wishes to further her education in hopes to become a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Pediatric Oncology and to one day work at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Victoria Speca

Communications Director
Victoria is a senior majoring in Corporate Communications.  After graduation she hopes to peruse a career in event planning.  She THONs for her family members that have gone through a battle with cancer.  She is willing to do whatever she can to ensure that every child is able to chase their dreams.  She has been a part of the organization since she started at Penn State her freshman year.  Victoria works at a bagel shop on the weekends and at the Student Life Desk on campus, so you will always see her around during the week.  A fun fact about Victoria is that she took photography classes all throughout high school.
