I can’t believe that I am saying this, but tomorrow marks the last week of classes for my second to last semester! I say this every year, but this semester truly flew by. I feel like I was just sweating on my walk to classes during syllabus week. Now, here I am looking at the remains of snow outside and trying to stay motivated for this last week and a half (it’s hard). As always, I am using my last blog of the season to reflect on this past semester.

School has been tough lately and piling on as it always does toward the end of the semester. From final projects, exams, presentations and a thesis, it is hard to find time for a break. However, I have found that with each semester that passes, the more I have allowed myself to take a break. Whether it’s an episode of This is Us, a quick workout, or even a power nap, there is always time in the day to take a breather. We easily get caught up in the pressure to succeed, but you can’t succeed without a stable state of mind. That is one thing that I have made priority this semester.

Another thing that I have really appreciated this semester is taking classes that I am truly interested in. Biobehavioral Health encompasses everything that is important to learn as a future healthcare provider. The more I hear about social determinants of health and how much of an impact socioeconomic status, race, and gender have on a person’s health, the more I want to work in the healthcare field to change that. It is amazing how much more interesting studying and research is when you are interested in what you are learning.

Despite some frustrating late nights spending hours on a couple of problems or finishing long essays, the past 14 weeks in State College have been fantastic, as always. This semester has been full of highs and lows, but mostly highs. I am looking forward to getting through this next week or so then have a little break at home, but I am even more excited to see what next semester will bring. I am forever grateful for my time here. Last one has to be the best one!
