There’s a week of classes left and I am busier than I have been not only this semester, but this entire school year. Junior year is coming to a close and we’re sailing through some rough seas. For reasons unbeknownst to me or any of my peers, we were assigned a project in three classes and two homework assignments – all due this week. I’m not sure when I’ll have time to complete all of this work and study for finals, but hey, whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Unless, of course, all of the coffee I foresee myself consuming ends up giving me a heart attack, then I might be eating my words.

However, in this time of trouble I am happy to know I’m not alone. If my ship is sinking into the sea that is schoolwork, my friends will help me paddle the rowboat to shore. When I’m in Hammond until 3 or 4 am every night this week, it’ll be with a friend. As we did last week, we’ll order food and put Friends on the projector. Like much else in life, being stressed and sleep deprived is easier when you’re not alone. I don’t want my friends to suffer alongside me, but at least we can empathize and motivate one another to keep on rowing.

I hope that next week, when I reflect upon this semester and the things I’ve learned, this week will be a distant memory – one with some sort of silver lining.
