Week 9 & 10
We will focus this week on professional development opportunities and resources available for enhancing your skills in a professional environment.
We will show you how Penn State’s staff performance review process works and how rewards are used in Outreach and Online Education. Closely linked to staff reviews are leadership opportunities, which, along with well-being in the workplace and maintaining a healthy work-life balance, will also be covered. Finally, telecommuting and working from home will be addressed.
Your supervisor will show you the Workplace Learning and Performance training selections and discuss mandatory training required by the university.
During these two weeks, you will receive a roster shift.
At the end of the training, you will be asked for your thoughts on our training. Please complete the feedback survey – any feeback you provide will assist with improving the training for future advisers. THANK YOU!

This program was designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge that you need to move forward to the next steps in your training: responding to the wdadvising e-mail account, answering general student telephone inquiries, and finally, advising your own student roster.
Please meet with your supervisor and mentor to discuss your next steps.
But before you do, we’d appreciate it if you would take a few moments to complete this end-of-training survey so that we can gather feedback and keep on improving this training for future new staff.
