Sorel Boots Line the Streets in the New Year

Welcome back to the happiest of valleys, Penn State students! I trust you all had a fabulous break having adventures and creating new memories—or just watching endless hours of Netflix. Both pass times are equally acceptable. I know that I, personally, missed school more than I ever thought I could. I guess it only takes a few weeks to fall in love with the people and things around you and consider it a new home. However, I can guarantee that nine out of ten of us did not miss one thing about this place: the weather. Even if you’re just a few hours away, there is something about this place that attracts snow and wind, in combination with the low temperatures of the surrounding area.

But instead of complaining, I have a different way to pass the time, and help you out in the process too! I have been spotting some amazing winter boots that don’t resemble the clunky cinder blocks we used to wear on our feet as children. These are real, wearable boots.

I got my Sorels at the end of the winter season last year on sale and never imagined how popular they would be. Trust me, I was obsessed with them, but now I see different color variations on every street corner. Last year, I found these 1964 Premium CVS Boots in red, and now they are more commonly seen in a grey and purple variety.

An entirely new style for Sorel’s Fall 2013 line is the Conquest Carly Boot. This one is my personal favorite because it looks the least like a snow boot. It is entirely functional in that it will still keep your feet dry and warm, thanks to its sealed toe and wool lining, but can still act as a piece of your wardrobe.

And last but not least, is the Sorel classic Joan of Arc boot. This style has been tweaked many times over the past few seasons and still remains a popular favorite on the streets. So next time you see a girl walking down the snowy streets at Penn State, check her boots. They’re probably Sorel.

  1. The timing of this post is kind of funny, with all the wind and snow during the day I walk with my head down, so I’ve starting noticing the different boots people wear. Other than the almost cliche Uggs, I saw these boots on many, many people, and started to wonder if they were any good. After reading this, I might just have to go try a pair out!

  2. I love Sorel boots! Actually, I have a pair on right now!! I never thought my feet could stay some warm and dry yet stylish at the same time. Sorel boots are a must for any Penn State student, especially during this brutal winter. Stay warm!

  3. I haven’t seen these boots before! They’re so cute, I especially like the Joan of Arc type. I never had snow boots before coming to college, but I’ve rapidly discovered that they are a necessity for these long frosty treks on campus.

  4. I’ve also been noticing a whole line of different, functional, actually nice looking snow boots! Like you stated, I always usually associated snow boots to the ones we wore as children, those velcro or zip up pink or blue ones. Now, though, I’m obsessed with checking everyone’s new styles. I personally bought leather ugg ones and they’ve been pretty practical so far. Loved this post!
