3D Models

This page showcases the models of buildings at the current site of Cahal Pech. The models are created for individual structures using structure from motion mapping. We are currently in the process of placing individual models at their geospatial location to create a full 3D model of Cahal Pech in its current state. The models and the entire website are based on a short preliminary visit to Cahal Pech in May 2017. Further visits are planned to complete the model and data collection.

Structure A2 is where ceremonies and big events were held in Maya history, such as a judges, receiving important visitors, etc..

This ballcourt is one of the two ballcourts in Cahal Pech. Ballcourts are common in Mayan sites. Ballcourt is a large masonry structure used primarily to play the Mesoamerican ballgame, in which players use their hip to touch the ball (Aveni et al., 1976).
