About

The purpose of the Applied Social Psychology (ASP) blog is to allow students to write about the course concepts as they observe those concepts in action in real life. Sort of like a personal news story. The trick is to start thinking like an applied social psychologist; seeing the theories and concepts in action. So for instance, you might see change at your workplace and use transformational leadership theory to explain why you think it occurred. Or you might see a group of people behaving badly on the nightly news and use path-goal or contingency theories to explain why those people all behaved that way. Remember though: define/explain the psychology theory or concept prior to delving into the example. You are writing for a general audience who may not be familiar with the topic (in addition to wanting to demonstrate your expertise to your instructor).
