4. Theory Considerations
In selecting the Health Belief Model, the goal is to make the target audience knowledgeable about Type 2 Diabetes, which will change their beliefs. In turn, their new beliefs will influence their health related behaviors through perceived severity, self efficacy, etc.
We chose this particular theory because in order to convince the target audience to take action, you must make them believe that it is important to teach their children ways to lower their chances of developing Type 2 Diabetes, and ways to increase their overall health. it’s important to warn them of the risks, but it’s also important to be encouraging and let them know that they can teach their children how to live a life that is diabetes free.
