Dr. Julianna Simon is an Assistant Professor of Acoustics in the Graduate Program in Acoustics at The Pennsylvania State University. Prior to joining Penn State in 2017, Dr. Simon was a National Space Biomedical Research Institute (NSBRI) First Award Postdoctoral Fellow with a project entitled, “Improving kidney stone detection in spaceflight analogs.” Dr. Simon received her Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Washington in 2013 with her dissertation entitled, “The Thresholds and Mechanisms of Tissue Injury by Focused Ultrasound” and her B.S. in Bioengineering from Washington State University in 2009.
