Penn State Faulty Senate
As member of the faculty senate, I’m able to vote on issues that I care about. Items that pertain to fixed-term faculty are of particular importance to me.
SEED
I am on the board of SEED (Self Empowerment through EDucation), a 501c3 charitable organization, established by a group of returned Peace Corps volunteers (one of which is my husband) who wish to give back to the communities that cared for them during their service in Serenje, Zambia, Africa. We provide opportunities to young people in rural Zambian communities with increased access to teacher certification. During each school year, we sponsor four (4) students to attend Malcolm Moffat College of Education (MMCE) in Serenje, Zambia.
Greenwood Furnace Trail Challenge
I am an organizer of this trail race. All proceeds benefit both local and international charities. The approximate 13 mile figure 8 trail course starts in Greenwood Furnace State Park, traverses Rothrock State Forest, and Alan Seeger Natural Area. The race is part of the PA Trophy Series.
