Breaking Bad S05 1080p WEB DL DD5 1 H 264 720p

The Atlantic magazine called it “the best there ever was.” Maureen Ryan, of the Huffington Post, called it “one of the Golden Greats.” Even my close friend told me, “like, you should totally watch it.” Yes, I’ve heard the rumors about the hit television series Breaking Bad, but until last week I had yet to see one scene.

But with the start of college, a dorm room equipped with an Apple TV streaming Netflix and a high definition screen, and an unheard of amount of free time, I have set out to watch the entire series of Breaking Bad, in an effort to catch up before the live series finale.

This quest will not be easy. As the semester intensifies and both homework and clubs become more frequent, my time for watching the show will diminish. However, if I maintain my routine of an hour of Breaking Bad everyday, I should just be able to catch up before the yet-to-be-scheduled finale.

This blog will have multiple purposes. First, it will serve as an outlet to track my progress, summarize the plot, and analyze characters. But second, and more importantly, I will attempt to draw themes from the show and relate them to our course, namely how it relates to rhetoric and civic life. If successful, I won’t have to hide under my pillow during the season finale, and I will be able to see the themes and characters in a paradigm relating to our topics of study. If unsuccessful, I will have simply wasted days in front of my T.V.

Wish me luck.
