Welcome to the Behavioral Neuroendocrinology Lab website

In the Behavioral Neuroendocrinology Lab (BNEL) we study the causes and consequences of individual differences in stress & fear behavior and physiology.  We work at a systems level to understand the multiple physiological systems that are associated with individual differences in behavior, and we use experimental studies to understand how environmental experiences, particularly during development, affect both behavior and these associated physiological processes.  The overarching goal is to understand how experiences and biology shape differences in fear and stress behavior. We use a variety of methods, including behavior testing, assays to stimulate and measure multiple physiological responses (endocrine and immune), environmental manipulations of social stress and early health-related challenges, and gene expression work to identify changes in central neurobiological function.
