Cynthia H. Chuang is a Professor of Medicine and Public Health Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine. She is also the Associate Director for Research for the Division of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Chuang is a general internist, primary care provider, and health services researcher with a principal research interest in unintended pregnancy and preconception care in women with chronic medical conditions, specifically diabetes, hypertension, and obesity.

Dr. Chuang completed her medical degree at NYU School of Medicine, Internal Medicine residency and chief residency at Temple University Hospital, and General Internal Medicine fellowship and Preventive Medicine residency at Boston University School of Medicine. She received a Masters of Science in Epidemiology from the Boston University School of Public Health, and has been on faculty at the Penn State College of Medicine since 2004. She is Principal Investigator of a K23 Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute on Child Health and Human Development entitled “Unintended Pregnancy in Women with Chronic Medical Conditions.”

Dr. Chuang is the author of over 30 publications and received the Department of Medicine’s Junior Faculty Award for Excellence in Research in 2008. She has also received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Department of Medicine’s Educational Recognition Award and the Special Recognition for Education Leadership and Service Award. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha’s Pennsylvania Eta Chapter and was the Keynote Speaker at the Penn State College of Medicine’s White Coat Ceremony in 2009.
