The University Park Commission for Women is not the only opportunity to work with a Penn State CFW. Many of our Commonwealth Campuses have local groups that provide services and events to women, as well. This month, we feature two of them: Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State Lehigh Valley.
Following on the successes of the Fall Semester Wellness Series, Penn State Schuylkill will host the upcoming programs in the Spring Semester:
- February 14, from 12:20–1:10 p.m. Dr. Cynthia Lubinski, 2001 Penn State alum, will speak on the subject of A Healthy Heart is a Beautiful Heart.
- March 1, at 7:00 p.m. Cathy Baldigo, a AAA representative, will present on the subject of Everything You Need to Know Before You Travel.
- April 9, at 6:00 p.m. Alyssa O’Neil, 2009 Penn State alum, and Debbie Cody, proprietor of Studio 16 Salon in Pottsville, will present on the subject of Looking Fresh and Beautiful for Spring.
Wellness Series events are free of charge but do require an RSVP. For more information, refer to the attached flyer: Schuylkill 2017–2018 Wellness Series.
Penn State Lehigh Valley has historically offered a scholarship to one student each year. This year, they quadrupled that! Thanks to support from local businesses, the Lehigh Valley CFW was able to award $2,000 in scholarships. Read more in the Penn State News story about the scholarship award winners.
In December, with the support of the Chancellor, the CFW hosted the annual campus holiday party and silent auction on campus rather than at a nearby hotel as they had previously done. They estimate the silent auction realized well over $2,000, which will be added to the scholarship and event fund.
