In light of the recent “Deflate Gate” scandal, where the NFL’s New England Patriots are suspected of altering the pressure of the game ball to their advantage, all eyes are on quarterback Tom Brady. The NFL recently wished to go through approximately 10,000 of Brady’s text messages over a four month period ranging before and after the suspected incident. Brady told the NFL that his assistant had destroyed his cell phone the same day that he was initially interviewed over the Deflate Gate Scandal. Brady’s suspicious actions lead the NFL to call it “an affirmative effort by Mr. Brady to conceal potentially relevant evidence and to undermine the investigation.” Still, there are other routes the NFL can take to recover the data such as attempting to find the physical phone and/or go through the mobile carriers cloud data (which they have recently disclosed they do not have Brady’s messages).
The article uses many rhetoric points to lead the audience to draw their own conclusions of this incident. The source has great ethos as CNN is a very reputable news organization. In addition, their use of quotes from both Tom Brady and NFL officials adds credibility to the story because it shows the story from both points of view. CNN’s use of pathos is what truly leads you to the conclusion of Brady’s guilt. The way they portray his actions and use of making us analyze why he had disposed of his phone and data at the time he did makes us think more about his motives. At the end of the day no one can know for sure if Brady is guilty of cheating but he sure does look guilty…

I believe that the NFL should go farther in investigating Brady. As a Steelers fan, I have never liked him. Evidence is piling up against him and he deserves what suspensions he gets.

Really interesting article topic. I liked how you included how CNN is able to convince the audience of Brady’s guilt and how you finished the blog with your own opinion.
