Summer Fellowship Opportunity: NCTR Summer Student Research Participation Program

Summer research opportunities are available at the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Jefferson, Arkansas. Selected individuals will train alongside NCTR investigators who conduct FDA mission-critical, translational research, that provides a scientifically sound basis for FDA regulatory decisions, and that reduces risks associated with FDA-regulated products. Application deadline is February 15, 2019, 11:59 PM ET.

Summer Fellowship Opportunity: Biochemical Markers Fellowship at CDC

A summer fellowship opportunity is available in the Division of Laboratory Sciences (DLS) within the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. DLS provides laboratory support that improves the detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of environmental, tobacco-related, nutritional, newborn, selected chronic and selected infectious diseases. DLS also works to improve the rapid and accurate detection of chemical threat agents, radiologic threat agents, and selected toxins. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, the selected participant will use state-of-the-art laboratory equipment to address topics relevant to public health. The application deadline is Friday, January 18, 2019, at 12:00 AM EST.

Big Ten Academic Alliance Smithsonian Institution Fellowship

The application period for the Big Ten Academic Alliance Smithsonian Institution Fellowship is now open. The deadline for submitting applications is 5:00 p.m. on November 1, 2018.

This program provides one-year fellowships to doctoral students to support research at Smithsonian Institution facilities. Students must have completed all coursework for their program, be admitted into doctoral candidacy, and completed all requirements except for completion of the dissertation. Fellowships carry a stipend of $36,000, which is paid by the Smithsonian Institution and the fellow’s home institution.

2019 Two-Year Worldwide IBM PhD Fellowship Program

IBM is pleased to announce the 2019 Two-Year Worldwide IBM PhD Fellowship for the academic years of 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.

Focus areas include the following topics of particular interest:

  • AI / Cognitive Computing
  • Blockchain
  • Cloud Computing
  • Data Science / Big Data / Analytics
  • Internet of Things
  • Quantum Computing
  • Security

The 2019 IBM PhD Fellowship includes:

  • In the US, fellowship recipients while in school will receive a stipend for living expenses, travel and to attend conferences ($35,000 for 2019-2020 and $35,000 for 2020-2021). Fellowship recipients will also receive $25,000 toward their education in 2019-2020.
  • Outside the US, fellowship recipients while in school will receive a competitive stipend for living expenses, travel and to attend conferences for the two academic years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. Fellowship stipends vary by country.

Info Session: NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program

Penn State students interested in applying for a 2019 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) are encouraged to attend an information session on Thursday, September 20, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Foster Auditorium, Paterno Library.

Three faculty panelists will be available to discuss the program and to answer questions.
