Pilot grants available from Clinical and Translational Science Institute

As part of its mission to accelerate discoveries to benefit human health, the Penn State Clinical and Translational Science Institute will award up to $300,000 in funding for pilot projects through its Bridges to Translation V pilot grant program.

A request for application workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 110 Henderson, University Park campus. Lunch will be provided and will be an opportunity for networking to promote collaboration. Registration is required by Oct. 3 at bit.ly/BridgesV. Transportation will be available from Hershey to University Park with registration.

Call for Applications: Center for Security Research and Education Seed Grant Program

The Penn State Center for Security Research and Education (CSRE) announces its 2018-2019 Seed Grant Program to support security-related scholarship and educational programs at Penn State. University faculty and researchers are eligible to apply in the fall 2018 semester by Nov. 1, or in the spring 2019 semester by Feb. 15.

Complete details on the CSRE grant program, including award levels, criteria, allowable expenses, reporting requirements, and the grant application are available at csre.psu.edu/grant-program. Applications should be submitted online at psu.infoready4.com.

Limited Submission: ORAU Travel Grant

The Office of the Vice President for Research announces the launch of the ORAU Travel Grant competition. The internal submission deadline is Monday, September 17, 2018.

The ORAU Travel Grants Program provides up to $800 to fund faculty or staff members of ORAU member institutions to travel to meet with researchers at ORNL, Y-12, ORAU work sites or another ORAU member institution. The purpose of the program is to support new collaborations (proposed partners have no strong current ties) with well-defined outcomes (joint white paper/proposal to an identified opportunity or publication as a result of data collected during the proposed visit).

Limited Submission: VentureWell Faculty Grants

The Office of the Vice President for Research announces the launch of the VentureWell Faculty Grants competition. The internal submission deadline is Wednesday, September 19, 2018.

VentureWell awards faculty grants to colleges and universities for the purpose of strengthening existing curricular programs and/or building new programs in invention, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Through these grant funds, VentureWell supports creative pedagogical approaches that generate student teams working on technology solutions to real-world problems, with the goal of the strongest teams applying to participate in VentureWell’s E-Team Grant Program. VentureWell has funded over 803 new courses or programs through faculty grants, and 3 out of 4 report that they are planning to continue their course or program beyond the grant period, thereby institutionalizing this experiential learning opportunity.
