First Night Against Procrastination

Tempting everyone the day of the event!

Did you ever hear of Autocomplete Balderdash? Probably not, because head librarian Barb Eshbach made it up! We played it at our 10:00 p.m. break - we gave the phrases "Who is . . ." and "How do . . ." and students wrote down how they thought Google would autocomplete the phrase, scoring points if others voted for their answers or if they guessed Google's top answer. As of that night, Google said, "Who is Tom Petty?" and "How do you make slime?"

Our 11:15 p.m. break involved playing a round of "Bring Your Own Book." Everyone brought either a textbook, a book they grabbed from the stacks, or one of the carefully chosen Joel Burkholder selections. Students selected a word, phrase, or sentence for the prompt "A line overheard at the White House." Librarian judges awarded the prize to a line from The Robot Book: Build and Control 20 Electric Gizmos, Moving Machines, and Hacked Toys - just because it made no sense!
