Gadget 9: Airo
I was planning on writing this post about another product, but after seeing this I had to switch! Technology has come a long way and new things are released each day that surprise me as being possible or even things that are in the market and still had no clue about them.
What is the one thing you need when our exercising for a long period of time? Sure there might be a slight variance in answers but I’m pretty confident water is pretty high on most of your lists. Brining a bottled water is something I know I do each time but there’s still a problem with that. For one, it is a very limited amount of water. I only get what I bring. Going off of that, another issue is that if you want more water, or even just one bottle, you are required to bring all of them with you from the start. One bottle isn’t the biggest problem to carry with you but what happens when it’s 4 or 5? Last, another problem is just with the simple cost of water. To buy a bottle costs quite a bit of money when you’re just buying something as simple as water. Not to mention, you are wasting so many bottles for doing the same purpose, so where is the solution? Well, imagine you can MAKE your own water!
Now I don’t mean making your own bottle water at home to be able to bring with you when exercising because that’d just be boring. I’m talking about making water while you’re outside your home doing whatever you want to be doing. Think that’s crazy? Well I’m telling you all you need is a bottle and the sun
The product that is making this possible is called Airo. The simplest explanation I could give for how it works is that it takes water straight out of the air, using power provided by the sun, and makes drinkable water for you. This product is said to be able to be used in any activity, but the one the highlight the most is biking. The container that holds the bottle can be strapped to your bicycle and the quick movement funnels humid air into the container to be converted as you bike. A self-refillable water bottle sounds like such a useful and great idea, and I can’t wait to give it a look when it’s out. But the problem with my previous statement is that it is not out yet so who knows how well it’s going to work or all the other details. One thing for certain is that this product is going to be a game changer in how I am going to be able to exercise if I don’t ever have to worry about running out of something to drink!
Now for some specifications…the bottle itself can store 0.8L of fluid and if you don’t feel like making your own water this can still serve as a (probably) expensive bottle to use. Second, they claim that it is very light so it will be easy to carry around. And one of the most interesting things I found is that the solar powered part of this device has a USB connection so you can even charge your phone while out traveling! (But very unsure of how powerful or fast this charge will be). Overall, I think it is a very interesting product that deserves to be looked at upon release.

I know solar charging is always an attractive and innovative feature for products to have but it never really delivers a substantial amount of power. From what I remember reading about this product it could take close to an hour to fill up at optimum sunlight and humidity. I think It is a cool novelty product but as for practical use I’m not sure.

This is quite a quaint idea. I doubt that this would be able to produce enough water to sustain a thirsty biker (or at least thirsty Nick Babich) but I would like to see this on the market and functioning.
