Zhijie Wang received the Peter Breen Award for excellence in undergraduate research. Congratulations, Zhijie!

Dear Colleagues-

Please join me and Dan in congratulating Zhijie (Steve) Wang, an undergraduate student in the Cremer lab, on receiving the Peter Breen Award for excellence in undergraduate research.  Steve’s research involves investigating the quenching mechanism of R6G by weakly hydrated anions (e.g. I- , ClO4 – , and SCN- ) via direct interaction with the xanthene ring, which is the central working functional group on all Rhodamine and fluorescein-based dyes.  The award will be presented at the Chemistry Graduation ceremony on May 8th at 10 am.

Steve will be attending Yale University in the Fall to study physical chemistry/biophysics.

Best Wishes,
Phil and Dan
