METEO 452: Tropical Meteorology

Dynamics and thermodynamics of atmospheric processes in the tropics. This course examines distributions of mass, momentum, energy, and water vapor in various tropical weather phenomena and the overall tropical climate. This course includes an in-depth exploration of tropical cyclones, with focus on their development, maintenance, climatology, and forecasting.

METEO 421: Atmospheric Dynamics

Application of the equations of motion to a variety of atmospheric motions and phenomena. This course explores balanced and unbalanced flows, vorticity, circulation, and potential vorticity. This course also introduces wave dynamics and stability analysis, as well as a quantitative discussion of the general circulation.
