Tell us about your organization:
Phi Sigma Sigma is a social sorority here on campus that molds women into contributing members of society. We, Phi Sigma Sigma, represent a community of service, scholarship, sisterhood, and leadership.
Why do you think your organization is important and meaningful on campus?
With Phi Sig, we participate in many organizations’ philanthropic events (as well as our own), raise tons of money for THON, help underprivileged schools with their school and college readiness, focus on our academics, and support many diverse organizations on campus.
How did you decide to take on your role as Thon Chair of Phi Sigma Sigma?
I decided to take on the Thon Chair position because Thon is so close to my heart. I find this position so rewarding for me; it gives me the opportunity to work closely with other chairs who share my same passion, get close with Four Diamond families, and have an even bigger impact on THON. I really took this role head on and did everything I could do to make a difference. This upcoming year I will be serving on our executive board as Member at Large. I am excited to see where this position takes me and what I can accomplish in this role!
How does your work with Phi Sigma Sigma give you the opportunity to use your gifts and passions?
It really gives me the opportunity to shine as an individual. I have met many other girls who share the same values and passions as me, as well as many who share very different beliefs than me. I feel that I have really made a difference in the events I participate in through Phi Sig and I enjoy dedicating my time to others.
Why do you think your organization makes a difference in this world?
I think in terms of our THON fundraising efforts and the way in which we truly care about our philanthropy, which supports school and college readiness. I believe we are making a difference in this world. Phi Sig stresses the importance of support both within and outside of our sorority and strives to produce the most well-rounded women.
Anything to say for students who might want to join this club?
I definitely encourage all girls to rush! Being in a sorority is such an amazing experience and really gives you that small community in a huge school. I have loved my time in my sorority thus far and cannot wait to see how I grow through this experience.
