August 16-17, 2018

The Pennsylvania State University, Berks Campus

Penn State Berks is pleased to invite you to attend the EduGaming Conference and Workshop on August 16-17 2018 on our campus in Reading, PA.

Penn State is a Pennsylvania Department of Education Act 48-approved provider. Prior to enrolling, professional educators are encouraged to confirm that this program fits their school district’s professional development plan for Act 48. Participants will be eligible to receive 12 Pennsylvania Department of Education Act 48 hours upon completion of this program.

The EduGaming Conference and Workshop establishes and promotes an initiative in leveraging educational games and computer science education as a supplementary pedagogical method for grade school students. It is aimed to advance K-12 classroom practitioners’ knowledge of how to incorporate games into their classrooms as a means to engage students beyond traditional curriculum. Conference participants will also survey computer languages ranging from coding with manipulatives (e.g., Osmo Coding Awbie) for Kindergarteners to abstract high-level programming techniques (e.g., Python) for Grade 12 students. Methods for integrating computer science ideas and applications across the curriculum will be explored. Members of higher education and industry are also invited to attend the conference.

You will learn:

How to choose off-the-shelf games to complement your lesson plans

What to look for in choosing games for your program
