We Are … E-House

WE ARE Penn State Engineering House, also known as E-House. We strive to provide students with a home away from home surrounded by their peers in similar courses. E-House is a co-ed Living Learning Community (LLC) located at Penn State’s University Park Campus available to full-time students that are accepted into the College of Engineering or College of Earth and Mineral Science.

E-House is located in McKee Hall, which is a part of the West Halls on-campus student dorms. The location is fantastic, being just across the street from the famous Lion Shrine as well as Rec Hall. Almost all of your classes are within a reasonable walking distance, and the Pattee and Paterno Library is just down the sidewalk.

To build a sense of community, members of E-House join one of 4 committees: Social, Academic, THON, and Outreach. Details on these committees can be found on the committee page. Members have to meet a certain “active status” each semester in order to be deemed eligible to continue living in E-House the next year and remain in good standing with the organization. Those members seeking active status generally need to participate in a mixture of social, academic, or fundraising activities to earn “points” towards their active status. To make sure students have ample opportunities to earn points they are also each required to host at least one event for the committee they are a part of. These events range from card games, arts and crafts, video game tournaments, study sessions, movie or documentary viewings, and more. They are a great way to meet new friends who share similar interests. Active status must be attained in both the fall and spring semesters to be eligible to live in E-House the following year.

In summary, E-House is a student organization dedicated to giving engineering students at Penn State the opportunity to live with and meet a community of like-minded peers.

For more information on how to join E-House in your first year at Penn State see the How to Join page

Any information that is not listed on this website can be found in the Microsoft Teams that all members of E-House should be a part of. If you are not in the Microsoft Teams but are an active member of E-House please reach out to a member of the Executive Board to be added to it.

Major website revisions are planned for the Spring 2023 semester so check back for more information then.
