Tonight I posted my first comment on the deliberation website that I found! I was a little nervous about doing so for the first time. Today in class we talked about how others may not respond to our comments and some other problems that may arise. As I went onto the website I had chosen, I began looking for a post to comment on. I found one that sparked my interest. It was about teaching civic engagement in schools. Throughout high school, I was extremely involved in student council and was always talking about and promoting civic education, so I thought this post was really interesting. I became eager to share my thoughts and experiences. As I read the comments, I got even more excited. Others had already commented on the post, and others were commenting on comments. I took this as a good sign and hope that others will comment on my post as well. I feel as if my comment stood out from the others because I wrote from the perspective of the student. The other comments were written by teachers, so my perspective was a little different. To be completely honest, I was not looking forward to commenting on a website, but I actually found it fun. I am really excited to see if anyone comments on my post and if they agree or disagree with my perspective. I hope that no one is too harsh or bashes my thoughts and opinions. While reading others’ comments I already saw a difference in opinion! I’m getting a lot more into this assignment then I thought I would. I’ve already decided that if someone comments on my post that I am going to try and respond! I hope everyone else is having a positive experience with their blogs. I cannot wait to see how this turns out!
