Genetic Experimentation on Humans

One of the important ethical aspects to consider when we look at the use of engineering genetics is the application of these experiments on humans (Hunt). As most of drugs and clinical therapies are tested on animals and then on humans, the manipulation of the human gene should also be tested in order to examine the results. However, the impact of any alteration of the genetic code of a human can have major consequences on the person and their descendants.

Most of the times, the participants in experiments related to the genetic field are seriously ill and are relying on the human testing performed on themselves as the last hope for survival (Hunt). Consequently, they approve any test done hoping for positive results. But it is important to consider that the participants must give their legal consent and that the experimentation must follow a legal frame.
