New Student Checklist Created

For most new students, a significant amount of time is spent on gathering the on-boarding information they need to become an “official” graduate student. With input from the administrative staff and faculty, we have put together a succinct checklist that puts all the important information into one place. Currently, the plan is to send out this checklist to new students once they have accepted their positions in the ESM department. Thanks to everyone who helped create this document!

Celebrate the End of the Semester

After getting feedback from students and faculty, the spring retreat has been scheduled for Saturday, May 16th, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The retreat, which will be all food, fun, and games, is a family and pet-friendly event held at Black Moshannon State Park (Pavilion # 5). We hope you can join us!

The ESM GSO will provide hotdogs, hamburgers, and a vegetarian option as well as drinks. Please bring a dessert, appetizer, or side to share! Lunch will be at 12:30pm, and we are still in the process of planning some family friendly games. As time gets closer, we will try and figure out carpooling for those without personal vehicles. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Consider Yourself Rural Socialized

Thank you to the Rural Sociology department for joining us at Kildaire’s for happy hour. There was a great turnout from both departments. Hopefully you had a chance to meet some new folks and catch up. If you were not able to make it, we hope to see you at our next happy hour, May 7th, with the Geosciences department.
