Editing comments

I took a little look around WordPress to find out what’s going on with editing comments.  Indeed, WordPress doesn’t allow regular users to edit comments once they have committed them.   You can edit your own post, and also edit your comments on your own post (that’s you, Nick, in your recent post about this), but other commenters are locked out.

I guess I see the point of that, in terms of preserving some accountability, but its a nuisance for you.

As a workaround for now, I’d suggest typing your comments into an instant MathJax previewer like this one:

http://cdn.mathjax.org/mathjax/latest/test/sample-dynamic-2.html

and then, when you’ve got them formatted the way you want, cut and pasting into the WordPress comment form.  Of course it would be better to have this instant-preview embedded in WordPress itself.  That requires PSUs sysadmins to install a new WordPress plugin.  They tend to be a bit paranoid about doing such a thing (for security reasons), but I’ve put in a request for it and we’ll see what they say.  Hope this helps!
