Shawn Morelli was in the Army, deployed as an engineer officer in Afghanistan in 2007 when she was injured. A 2009 trip to a local bike shop, and exposure to competitive cycling at the 2010 Warrior Games helped her get into cycling. She broke the women’s C4 pursuit world record at the 2016 UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships. She continued that success at the Paralympic Games Rio 2016 where she became a two-time gold medalist on the track. …Married to Carl Dick, who is a major in the U.S. Army…Hobbies include coaching soccer at a local high school, mentoring kids at a local community center and talking to health classes about importance of goals…On July 1, 2015 she was honored by Major League Soccer Team, Sporting Kansas City, during its Salute to Troops campaign.
