In today’s society, many employers look for a minimum of a four year degree from a respectable college or university when considering a potential employee. Higher education provides the career foundation necessary in order to boost one’s credentials as a potential employee that can compete in the ever increasingly competitive workforce. A college degree can mean the difference between having a job and having to move back in with one’s parents. Unfortunately, the value of college education can often be grossly underestimated. In the words of Sir Francis Bacon, “scientia potentia estvery;” a phrase more commonly referred to as “knowledge is power.” Perhaps, in modern society, it would be more fitting to say that “knowledge is money.” Continued education spawns more innovative and cre
ative thinkers who are able to think outside of the box and who are not afraid to challenge the status quo. Education leads to more informed decisions in the worlds of politics and economics as well. America needs these college educated, ingenious individuals in order to develop solutions to today’s tough problems that affect the United States as a whole.
