Things are heating up here at the Frost. Our new floors are in, cabinets have been ordered, and our renovation plans for the collection room are finalized. Our progress on the public side of the Museum, however, has been achingly slow, especially since the space is filled with cabinets right now, and our minds are heavily occupied with ENT 432 and with various travel (ESA 2014 was great!). We also have an exciting offering for Penn State Entomology students next spring, but more on that later. The purpose of this post is to announce that we are looking for another PhD student to join the Frost consortium! Here are the details, as described in the email that went out today:
Graduate Fellowship
Insect Systematics and Evolution
Pennsylvania State UniversityThe Deans Lab at the Frost Entomological Museum has an opening for a PhD student interested in the evolution of parasitoid Hymenoptera. The project includes the collection and analysis of molecular and morphological data, development and testing of semantic approaches to phenotype representation, and next generation monography. The student will be part of a highly integrative and energetic lab group, led by Drs. Andrew R. Deans, Heather M. Hines, and István Mikó. The student will also have myriad opportunities to participate in collecting expeditions and museum visits, both domestic and abroad.
