Last week I shared these Sathrax durus (Johnson 1964) (Anoplura: Polyplacidae) lice. While the host of our specimesn was Tupais glis, these lice have also been found on other treeshrews in the same genus.
Lice harbored on this species can be problematic in model organisms, as the symptoms of infestation can impact biomedical research (Abee et al 2012). However, not much is known as to whether this species transmits disease to common treeshrews (Durden & DeBruyn 1984).
