My parents recently came to visit me in State College, PA. While they were here, I gave them a tour of our lab and showed them a few specimens of Conostigmus albovarius, a beautiful species from Australia that is the subject of a publication I am currently working on. C. albovarius is the only known Conostigmus species with a white and metallic coloration pattern.
After seeing the beauty of the wasps I was working with, my mom created a bracelet for me with the colors she had seen on C. albovarius. In the same week, we also had a class of graphic design students come to view the collection for inspiration in their work. If anything, this serves as a testament to the beauty that can be found in the natural world, especially when insects are involved.
This bracelet is a gift that I will truly treasure. Not only does it serve to remind me of the beauty of what I am working on, but it is also a symbol of my parents love and their support for what I am doing. I am truly grateful.
