Marco Rubio

Official Portrait

The son of a Cuban immigrant, incredibly young compared to almost everybody in both parties, and lastly he is one of the best debaters standing at every podium they’ve put him at. Marco Rubio is a name to remember. He is currently the senator of Florida and has worked very closely with Jeb Bush over the last 4 years. This has become a point of tension though especially for his political career. Many people spend a very large portion of time serving in areas such as the congress and the senate and get a solid base of political skills before they move for a position such as the most powerful man on earth. So how does Rubio go on to defend his position?

As a senator he is expected to do his job and vote in favor of the republican platform that he ran under. Regardless of this though he seems to have the poorest voting rating in the senate out of any of his fellow candidates. This is pointed out during the debates on Wednesday and he fought back with statements reminding people that he is criminalized for not keeping up with his voting record and yet, Barrack Obama had a voting rate of about 30-40% on the senate during his run for presidency. This is often times overlooked though depending on what news station it is coming from, particularly for tonight CNBC.

Holding true to his policies, Rubio does hold a few views a bit unfavorable to the Republican party with the most obvious one being his willingness to help reform illegal immigration instead of extreme deportation. He suggests that letting thousands of workers take on certain job but work towards citizenship during their time working. Rubio has also recently laid out a tax plan where there are tax cuts for everyone based off their tax bracket. There was a small argument between Rubio and one of the moderators during the debate about who actually benefits the most from these tax breaks with Rubio arguing lower to middle class and the moderator arguing upper class. After doing some reading I found that there was quite a few sources that seemed to agree with Rubio on the effectiveness of his plan.

This is Rubio’s second debate in which he has been an easy contender for the winner. Last time Fiorina was Rubio’s biggest challenger in terms of making a mark on the debate platform but this time it was Cruz who had a solid performance that was just as good as Rubio’s. I predict a good outcome for Rubio as he has a high number in polls, and I can only see those numbers going up as people start to recognize his ability to debate, and his charisma for swift, effective and beneficial politics.
