Day Five – Chichicastenango, Panajachel, and Lake Atitlan

I am by far the most terrible morning person alive, and this morning we were up at 5:30. I was not a happy camper. The bus ride seemed like it took forever, more than two hours, and it was freezing. When we arrived at Chichicastenango, we were in a huge market. We went to see two churches, one for the day and one for the night, but we weren’t allowed to take pictures inside. That makes Shelby and I’s second project very difficult. We got to shop around the market and barter with people. We went to a cemetary, and it was actually really super pretty. There were bright colors everywhere, and it just looked really extravegant. Then we went to Panajachel and to see Lake Atitlan. The lake was beautiful, and had three volcanoes surrounding it. Panajachel was very laid back, and we all felt very at ease there. When we were eating lunch, we were sat by a bird cage that didn’t look like it had anything in it, then all of a sudden, a little bird was tweeting around. It must’ve been twenty minutes until I looked over again, and when I did, there was another bird. Then they just disappeared. Some people aren’t feeling good after today, and two of our group members didn’t go with us today for that reason. The bus ride we had to go on was probably the cause of any upset stomachs. Even after the terribly long ride back to our hotel, it was a really good day. I had a lot of fun and the places we went were really pretty.
