Over the past week, the Hamer Center for Community Design has been busy sharing their work to academics and professionals from across the country. HCCD director Lisa D. Iulo presented at the Engagement Scholarship Consortium Conference in Minneapolis, MN about “Achieving Education and Efficient Housing Through Engaged Scholarship.” This presentation focused on the design process and educational benefits and continuing research of the GreenBuild Duplex, a pair of affordable, high-performance homes recently constructed in State College, PA and designed by Penn State students for the 2015 Department of Energy’s Race to Zero Competition. In addition to that, Chris Hazel, researcher at that Energy Efficient Housing Research group, submitted a poster to the annual conference for the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) in Pittsburgh, PA. The poster provided a complete snapshot of the GreenBuild Duplex design and process. For more information about the GreenBuild project, check out the EEHR website!
