Martone grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, but has since spent years residing in Galesburg, Illinois, and Tempe, Arizona. Currently, he lives in Hollidaysburg and serves as the 2015 Emerging Fiction and Nonfiction Writer-in-Residence for Penn State Altoona. His digital chapbook, An Object You Cannot Lose, was published in early 2015 on Cartridge Lit. His work has appeared or is forthcoming inMid-American Review, Barrelhouse, The Collagist, Hobart, and elsewhere.
