No matter which school year you are in, which major or whether you are a graduate or undergraduate student, it always pays to meet with Career Services early your academic career. We can help you think about your future plans, relate majors to careers, help you write a resume, help you find opportunities online, and so much more.
Did you know that some recruiters will post their summer 2017 intern positions early in the fall of 2016–like now? They have early application deadlines and a lengthy interview process. That’s why we have held our fall career fairs in early October. Some recruiters are already looking for their spring 2017 graduates during the fall semester, so they can hire the best & brightest, who are most often the ones already looking as soon as they return to school for their senior or final graduate year. And some recruiters, like accounting firms, are just too busy in the spring to do their recruiting for new staff. They want to get it done in the fall. With these recruiters, you could have a job offer in your pocket before Christmas!
Our On-Campus Interviewing program is in full swing now. Use our free job board, Nittany Lion Career Network, now to search for those jobs and internships that have employers coming to campus on specific dates to do their interviewing. Even if you’re not graduating yet, you still need to be planning ahead and use the same NLCN network to apply to the literally thousands of jobs and internships posted now. There is an easy to follow instruction page at the link above.
We are continuing to hold various workshops this fall to help you prepare for these events–from creating and improving your resume, to how to use the Nittany Lion Career Network job board, to how to set up a LinkedIn profile. Check our Calendar of Events for the complete list. It’s right on our home page.
