In the fall semester, 2012, I talked about accessibility at a meeting of the Association of Research Libraries and also at Educause (http://educause.mediasite.com/mediasite/Play/45b743b510914f9b94a207bd2143de651d).
I spoke to a lively crowd of CIO’s at Educause 2011 in Philadelphia on Penn State’s use of Adobe Connect and will make a presentation with Cole Camplese to the Penn State Board of Trustees in January, 2012. In the past ten years I’ve spoken to the Trustees on various topics related to students and technology. In July 2009, I participated in a panel on high-impact issues for students: ANGEL, the e-learning cooperative, Digital Media Commons, e-portfolios, blogs, and e-testing inside and outside of Pollock (the handout is attached).

In September, 2007, and January 2008, I made presentations to the Board on academic integrity and current students’ uses of technology.
In 2008 I gave a keynote presentation at Oklahoma State University on how Penn State has adapted the course redesign process developed by the National Center for Academic Transformation.
In July 2007, I shared with a Penn State audience the results of recent surveys of how faculty, staff and students both use and view technology.
At the November 2006 meeting of the Learning Technology Initiative in Minneapolis, I spoke on Penn State’s efforts to re-design high-enrollment courses.
At the Educause meeting in October, 2006, I spoke at a session on “Leveraging Your Existing Campus Systems to Access Partner Resources: Federated Identity Management and Tales of Campus Participation,” discussing our use of Shibboleth and Turnitin.
In August, 2006, I spoke on “Academic integrity and online learning: lessons learned at Penn State” at the Academic Impressions conference in Pittsburgh.
On April 8, 2006, I presented a futuristic view of instructional computing at Penn State as part of our 2006 Symposium on Teaching with Technology. You may view this presentation from our streaming server.
In January 2006, Renata Engel and I talked about Penn State’s efforts to transform high-enrolling general education courses at the Educause Learning Initiative, an international gathering of faculty and staff who use technology to improve learning.
In May 2005, I chaired a CIC meeting at Northwestern on blending learning and also summarized some of the highlights of Penn State’s efforts. Just before this conference I was interviewed by CNN about our use of Turnitin to encourage academic integrity. Caution: this brief interview is a large file.
On April 18, 2003, I talked about copyright and the challenges posed by the TEACH Act at the Penn State Security conference.
During 2002-2003, I spoke about cyber-plagiarism to several audiences at Penn State, the University of Iowa, and Temple University.
On June 20, 2000 I gave the keynote talk at the Web2000 Conference, a gathering of Penn State faculty and staff who serve as webmasters.
