Associate Professor Dr. Ling Rothrock
Overview
Dr. Rothrock’s research interests are human decision making and supervisory control. His work in each of these areas is guided by cognitive science principles and involves computational modeling of human performance data. He specializes in human-in-the-loop simulation, human judgment modeling, human performance measurement, and individual and team training. At Penn State, he continues his work on designing adaptive interfaces and decision aiding tools through joint efforts with faculty in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the College of Information Sciences and Technology, and the Smeal College of Business. He conducts research on human judgment and decision making and supervisory control, advises PhD and MS Industrial Engineering students, teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Human Factors, and serves on various professional and Penn State boards and committees. He also is the head researcher in the Human Performance, Assessment and Modeling Laboratory (HPAM).
Career
Dr. Rothrock is currently an Associate Professor at Penn State University, a position he has held since January of 2008. From June 2002 – December 2007 (5 years 7 months) he was an Assistant Professor, also at PSU. From January 2000 – June 2002 (2 years 6 months) Dr. Rothrock held a position as Assistant Professor at Wright State University. He also served as an officer in the US Army from January 1996 – December 2000 (5 years).
