Director and Assistant Professor
I’m an Assistant Professor of Engineering Design and Mechanical Engineering at Penn State. My research draws on perspectives from engineering, design, and psychology to study how humans act while solving problems, and how we can use this knowledge to inform the design of novel systems. In addition to design, I’m interested in machine learning, STEM education, optimization. I received my graduate degrees in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon (PhD ‘16, MS ‘14), and a dual undergraduate degree in civil and mechanical engineering from Fresno State (BS ‘12).
I’m a first-year PhD student in the department of Mechanical Engineering at Penn State. My love for engineering stems from the enjoyment that I found in taking apart Nerf guns when I was in elementary school. Over the course of my education, I’ve developed great interests in robotics, machine learning, and systems engineering. I received my undergraduate degree from Rowan University with a major in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Electrical & Computer Engineering (BS ’17).
