Welcome back to my blog!
I can’t believe that it’s already almost spring break of freshman year! This year is really flying by fast!
This week I wanted to write about a restaurant downtown called The Tavern Restaurant. I’ve actually visited this restaurant last semester, but completely forgot to write about it. However, I recently remembered about it, and went again to refresh my memory, so don’t worry about getting half accurate information!
The Tavern Restaurant is located, as they advertise on their website “in the heart of downtown State College”. Like they alluded to, the restaurant is pretty much at the center of West College Ave. The entrance is down a sort of alley, but it is still close to the road. Since it is more or less in the middle of downtown, it is a great place to meet up with friends for lunch who live at different housing areas.
The two times that I went there, I decided to try different things to make sure that there was multiple good selections. Both times I was happy with my meals. The menus for each day do vary, so make sure you check the menu before going. The menus are on the website here: http://thetavern.com/#
The food was moderately healthy. It honestly really depends on what you order. There are definitely selections that could be made if you are trying to eat healthy, but they also offer things like burgers.
You can definitely go with a larger group of friends. While it is a nice restaurant, I have never actually seen it very crowded. Because of this, we have never had trouble being seated right away, no matter the size of the group. This may not be the case all the time, so if you do want to go with a large group, I would recommend calling ahead.
The atmosphere of this restaurant is very classy.
Another cool thing about this restaurant is its decor. It is decorated as if it was an old fashioned tavern, and does a good job making you feel as though you have been transported back in time.
I hope that you found this helpful!
