PAS#9 – Justin Timberlake

Each week it’s exciting to find out who the host of Saturday Night Live will be. Watching the show is usually more enjoyable if you know whom the host is because his or her monologue makes more sense. There are some hilarious and awesome hosts, some mediocre ones, and some who are so bad they actually get banned from the show. (15 people/groups banned from SNL.)

Some hosts are so good they get asked back numerous times. Alec Baldwin currently holds the position of most number of times hosting at an incredible 16 times! Although the featured person today has less than a third of what Baldwin has, I think he is on his on his way to catching up. From boy band, to solo artist and actor, he is truly a Renaissance man.  Exactly 1 month after his wedding day, it seems appropriate to discuss this man’s wonderful talent. His name is Justin Timberlake and he has been on SNL 5 times: host twice, host and musical guest twice, and musical guest once.

My favorite monologue of his was his one in May 2011. He began saying that everyone expected him to sing but he didn’t want to, so then he described how he was not going to sing at all during his monologue or the show…in song. His Christmas special of “Cup O Soup” where he raps to attract people to donate money. He brings his musical talent to the show and it’s great to see a rap saying “Soup there it is. Give it on up to Homelessville.” And how can we forget the time Justin Timberlake, Bobby Moynihan, and Andy Samberg did the “Single Ladies” dance? Our eyes can never unsee the epicness that was.

I believe that Justin’s most notable work is his work with Andy Samberg in the Lonely Island songs. “On a Boat”, “Like a Boss”, “The Golden Rule”, and a few other very inappropriate songs. They’re all messed up but funny nonetheless. He’s so special that NBC gives him a whole Collection on the Saturday Night Live website.
