Changes at Locke Studies

An important announcement has been made regarding the future of Locke Studies.

The John Locke Society will take over ownership of the journal in 2018. The journal will be moved to Western University and Benjamin Hill (Western) will be taking over as interim editor for 2018-19. A newly-formed Editorial Board will appoint an editor to serve a five-year term beginning in 2020.

The move to Western will transform the journal from a subscription-based print journal to an open access e-journal. All of the back issues of Locke Studies and The Locke Newsletter will eventually be available electronically as word searchable PDFs via the e-publishing platform. Past issues will be made available as they are digitized and ready for distribution.

For more information see The John Locke Society’s announcement.

Update on the Clarendon Edition of the Works of John Locke

The description of the Clarendon Edition of the Works of John Locke has been updated based on information from Mark Goldie on the July 2017 meeting of the Locke Board.

There have been some changes to the Board, as well as the identification of editors for several of the volumes in prospect.

Thanks to Ruth Boeker for information about her recent publications.  I would also like to thank the participants in the John Locke Workshop at Western University, June 22-25, 2017, for their stimulating papers.  For a list of the workshop papers, see the June 21 posting.

Many of the older items listed about are based on citations in Jonathan S. Marko, Measuring the distance between Locke and Toland : reason, revelation, and rejection during the Locke-Stillingfleet debate (2017).

New URL for John Locke Resources

Beginning in September 2017, there is a new URL for John Locke Resources and related sites: http://openpublishing.psu.edu/locke/

The current URLs (this should include all pages on the site) will be redirected automatically to the new URL.

As a result of my retirement from Penn State, there has been a new agreement with Penn State University Libraries regarding the hosting and future development of the sites.  Things should continue without significant changes for the next sixth months; after that, there may be announcements of changes to the design and functioning of the sites.
