When it is necessary to make a copy of a document’s book chapter or article, there are two self-service options to reproduce materials located in the Library.
Scannx Book ScanCenter
The most convenient and free method of making an electronic copy is by using the Scannx Book ScanCenter. This is located along the student bank of computers on the main floor of the library. There are a variety of destinations users can send files: by Smartphone or tablet, USB, Google Drive, and the most common, email.
Just touch the screen to begin and select your document destination. There is a limit on how many images/ pages may be scanned – 100 pages or 10 Mbyte. The file format will dictate the size and effect how much you can scan at one time. The scan settings are defaulted to the most common items scanned. On this screen you can also set them to whatever you will be scanning.
Place your book or paper on the glass top as shown by the illustration, close the cover and touch “scan” on the screen. Thumbnails will appear on the right side of the screen after each scan. After each page, there are edit options to use from the touch screen. There is also an option after each scan to delete a poor image, if necessary. Follow the instructions on the screen when you are finished scanning to send your document to the destination you chose. Scans destined for your email will be from BookScan Center with the subject “your scanned documents”.
Copier
The Law Library also has a high quality copier that uses LionCash+, debit or credit cards. It is located in the same alcove as the student printer on the main floor.
To begin, press the copier icon on the card reader on the stand, and slide your LionCash+, debit or credit card in the slot. The message to begin copying will appear. The display screen on the copier will allow you to choose standard, double sided, and to reduce or enlarge your copies.
Copy prices are 10 cents ($0.10) for letter size black and white copies; double sided letter size copies are fifteen cents ($0.15).
If you need assistance with this equipment, please ask the circulation desk staff for help!
REMEMBER: For both self-service options available, it is important not to violate copyright laws (Title 17, U.S. Code) with regard to the materials you scan or copy.
