This isn’t exactly about LionPath, but it is about something that is connected to LP, and that is similarly terrifying to some of us: CollegeNET. Please see below for a missive from Deb Howard, PSU’s director of facilities resources and planning.
*******
As many of you are aware, Penn State is engaged in the implementation of a comprehensive scheduling system, CollegeNET, for courses, meetings, events, and calendaring which is centrally funded and supported for all of Penn State campuses and locations that will go live for Fall Semester 2016. For the first phase of this implementation the University Registrar is currently using the CollegeNET system to schedule credit courses and there is a concurrent effort to add all the room and location information to build the system for events and calendaring. This project has the support of the Provost and Senior VP for Finance and Business/Treasurer and was initiated by representatives from throughout the university. The implementation of CollegeNET will eliminate the need for separately funded and isolated scheduling and calendar systems. It is being implemented in concert with LionPATH for the University’s credit courses as the first phase, and the second phase is now underway for event and meeting scheduling.
As the first unified scheduling and calendaring system, CollegeNET will provide:
A fully functional calendar offering Students, Staff, and the Community a singular access point to Penn State happenings.
Consistent tracking and reporting of space usage to foster efficient use of University space and resources.
Dramatic improvement in information to better provide logistical, safety, security and access coordination for all campuses.
The expectation is that all space scheduling will occur in this system in order to ensure full functionality as well as a complete picture of courses, events and space usage. This system offers a great deal of customization and the ability to set scheduling parameters at the room level allowing access to be tailored to the needs of each individual work unit. Underway is an immense effort to collect all the room, location and attribute information throughout the University. Any help and support that you are asked to contribute in this endeavor is truly appreciated.
