As many of you know, in addition to the shift to LionPATH, we are also shifting to a new note-taking system: Starfish. The Starfish system fills two gaps left by the transition from eLion: advising notes, and early progress reports. The system will also allow us to improve our communications with students overall: Stay tuned in the next year or so for more exciting features!
For now, the advising team in liberal arts has begun using Starfish for recording student interactions, and for appointment scheduling. The most frequent issue we’ve encountered (so far!) is students who are missing in the database. Students must be “active” in order to schedule appointments in the new system. For brand new students, they should become active in the system 7 days prior to their Orientation dates. For students who have been inactive but who are attempting to re-enroll, they will not be able to schedule an appointment until they have either scheduled at least one class for the coming semester, or been assigned to an academic adviser.
