Social diversity is also growing into a component of concern in leadership. Based on the social values and cultural dimensions in the world, a good leader needs to keep track of any social changes so that they do not influence their leadership in a bad way. Social environment always determines the approaches one can employ in the day to day activities. A good leader should come up with means of working without having to go against the social norms.
Leadership is usually confined to a given cultural setting. The reason for this is to allow one to be able to guide others over what they all understand and know that they can excel in. As Schein put it, culture formation is a result of leadership activities (Schein, 2006). Poor leadership interventions will lead to a cultural setting that will not support proliferation and success of other workers. Embracing the social values of a given place always sets the record straight and allows people to work with a sober mind towards success.
There is always a challenge of working where one does not necessarily agree with the socio-cultural values of a place. In order to maintain a good leadership record, it is critical that the leader follows up to what the society requires of them to do and still allow workers to do the same so that they can achieve their targets. Some decisions made by leaders have to be for the sake of the people being led. A leader would have failed if the people being led fail as well.
Success in leadership solely relies on the success of the people who were being led since it shows great composure and coordination from the leader. I get motivated if the groups I work with are making progress in terms of the set goals. It shows that as a leader, I am successful because there is progress being made.
