In this capacity, Manuel will collaborate with the Department of French and Francophone Studies to develop the library’s teaching and research collections in French languages and literatures and Francophone studies, and will serve as the library’s liaison to faculty and students in French and Francophone Studies regarding all aspects of library services. Manuel will also continue as liaison librarian to the Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese and the programs in Latin American Studies and Latina/o Studies. We thank Paula Contreras for filling in temporarily as the library’s liaison to the Department of French and Francophone Studies during Fall Semester 2015.

  • Tombros Librarian for Classics and Humanities: In addition to his liaison relationships with the Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies and the Department of Jewish Studies, Chuck Jones now serves as liaison to the Department of Philosophy.

Subject specialists in Arts and Humanities are also collaborating with John Russell, our new Assistant Director of the Center for Humanities and Information, and other colleagues across the Libraries to foster all forms of scholarly communication including digital scholarship and open access.

In conjunction with the above re-assignments, the University Libraries will seek to hire a Librarian for Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures (the position announcement is forthcoming). Until the position is filled, Amanda Maple will continue to provide temporary liaison services to the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures in the College of the Liberal Arts. — Amanda Maple
